Redfoo is an American rapper, DJ, singer, and songwriter, well-known for his musical band LMFAO which he formed with his nephew Sky Blu. The uncle-nephew duo became popular with their hit song ‘Party Rock Anthem’, which reached No. 1 position in many countries’ musical charts, including the UK and the US. Redfoo had started his musical career much before forming the band LMFAO. During his initial years he worked with several rappers in Los Angeles, including Black Eyed Peas, in the late 1990s. He even performed at the Super Bowl with Madonna. Being the son of Berry Gordy, Jr., founder of the Motown record label, Redfoo was introduced to different styles of music at a young age. His writer-producer mother also influenced his love for music. As a kid he used to jump onstage while the celebrities performed, and hung around with the musical stars.
He grew up mingling with stars like Michael Jackson, and musicians like Diana Ross and Smokey Robinson. Despite his family business, his priority then was tennis. He began to take music seriously only when he was 16 after he heard some Christmas raps. Soon he started programming on the Atari STE-50. He realized that the dance music back then didn’t have much rapping or singing in it. So he decided to merge it with hip-hop. To make his vision a reality, he formed the band LMFAO, and recorded the song ‘I’m in Miami Bitch’, which eventually became his debut single and catapulted him to popularity.
